Loganair
schedule  Fair Isle - Kirkwall flights for this Summer
During summer 2008, from 8th May to 28th September, Loganair will again operate a scheduled Orkney to Fair Isle service with return flights from Kirkwall on Thursdays and Sundays. Unlike last year these flights will be direct, with the Islander aircraft - unlike last year - not calling in at North Ronaldsay on the way.

22nd January
After a clear and frosty night, this morning dawned with thickening high and medium cloud spreading in from the southwest, heralding the approach of the next Atlantic weather system. However, for a few minutes before disappearing behind the advancing cloud-sheet, the low sun cast a wonderful light across the Isle.

ESE'ly gales continue

Rough seas in Heswalls

Heavy seas running in Hesswalls.

With salt-spray, sleet and hail flung around by F9 ESE'ly winds gusting over 70 mph, not a day for the digital SLR. Fitting in the palm of a hand. my compact is a much better bet as it can emerge from the protection of a jacket sleeve to take a picture.
